Who are we?

The Girls Brigade is a Christian, international interdenominational organisation working alongside girls and young women in many countries.

Since our foundation in 1893, Girls Brigade has become well known as a fun, interesting, challenging and relevant provider of activities, skills, care and Christian love for hundreds of thousands of young people.

The Girls Brigade is a sister organisation of the Boys Brigade. We are called the 37th Bristol and we are based in Totterdown, Bristol.

We have been running for nearly 60 years and we currently have around 20 girls, 1 captain, 1 officer and two helpers.

We have a structured programme which the girls follow to gain awards, which builds confidence and friendship.

All officers and helpers have undergone training and they have all been CRB checked.

The Company runs every Tuesday evening (during the school term) between 6.30pm and 8.00pm.

We are a very friendly bunch and we always welcome new members.

Where are we?

We are based at Totterdown Baptist Church, Wells Road, Totterdown, Bristol.

About the Company

The girls in the company are spilt in to sections which reflect their ages:

Each section has a different badge system which means that the activities they take part are suited to their age. Each year the girls work towards one badge that consists of four different sections:

• Spiritual
• Physical
• Educational
• Service
  

Here are just a few of the things that the girls can get involved in:

• Sports
• Drama
• Cookery
• Music
• Art
• Craft
• Indian Head Massage
• Singing
• Games
• Making Friends
• Orienteering
• Day Trips

We try to be very flexible and choose badges that will help the girls gain confidence, learn new skills and have fun!

A typical evening would include a mixture of games, badgework and devotional time.
